"the 2009 Beaujolais L'Ancien Le Buissy represents an older barrel-raised cuvee he essays in the best vintages from two parcels of nearly septuagenarian vines, and had been assembled in tank when I tasted it in June. Cassis, cherry, and bittersweetly floral aromas lead to an initially unusually effusive, sweetly-fruited palate for a Gamay from the chalky south. But, as if the wine overheard that remark, it then delivers an almost citric bright streak, saliva-inducing juiciness, and a veritable load of chalk and stone in the finish. As this takes on air, it also acquires almond extract and kirsch more familiar from this terroir. It should remain spine-tingling for at least several years, probably outdoing the -regular- cuvee."
